Hi Patrick,
Happy New Year to you and the family. ;)

I've just spent five minutes watching your video, and I have to say Brilliant!!  Well done on the build, the suspension looks to work really well!
I think your little girl will have a fight on her hands to get it away from mum! :D
Did you sort the damper problem, or is that still in the pipeline?

Like we've all said before, they're never really finished!

Hope the Big Landy gets some attention now, you might get chance now as the kiddies have something to occupy there time! ;)

Best Regards,
Keep in touch,
Mark.

Hi Patrick
That looks a treat, two happy children there! Suspension looks to work good and seems to have a good steering lock, Excellent. It's been so cold here that my grandchildren have not been out in it since the first trip.
Happy New Year

Well done Patrick and family, it looks very good and quite fast too.

Cold and Grey across here last few days so I envy you the Maltese weather.

Just as a matter of interest 'cos I've not done my brakes yet, do your brakes lock the wheels when applied hard?

Regards,

Brian.

Patrick

Looks really nice, and I am sure that it will get better as you develop the individual elements.

Where did you get the wheel hubs caps from, as I could do with two for the front two wheels on my car.

Cheers Mike

Hi Guys, Thanks for the compliments.

I know its not all that slow, but i think its just right in wide open spaces. For the child its still a bit quick i must admit, she is still very young. I can always limit the pedal travel to slow it even further as it can be driven at a snails pace, but it will stall on any small obstruction than! really steep ramps (like into the landy) will also stall it under full power. Gentle hills and inclines seem to be ok, but it does lack umph up hills.

I have noticed the motor does become a bit warm, nothing unbearable,(after a full hours of adult riding) wiring and the controller seem to be fine, no hot or sizzling bits. I expected the controller to become like a little heater but it seems to cope quite well. My guess is the bigger wheels are making the motor get warm as it needs to work harder.

No dampers yet, in fact its a bit bouncy. I need stiffer springs at the rear when adults are driving for sure.

The brakes will lock up if driven by a child, remember mine are automatic, as in electrically operated. They are better when an adult is driving as they tend to drag a bit, but not lock up. They stop the vehicle very well i must admit even with adults, very powerful brakes, even with big wheels.

Hub caps are late land rover defender td5 110/90, i will give you the part number.

For now i will leave it as is, future mods will be dampers of some sort, real pedal operated brakes, a proper speed controller (Which i can tweak for better control) and maybe some day if i am feeling a bit ingenious, some sort of selectable lower gearing, for those real offroad trips.

Keep up the good work guys, i will be around this forum always as i enjoy seeing what other people have done to thier little vehicles as improvements.

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for that, I'll be buying a set, and you can bet that I won't be alone! ;)

I was looking on Ebay earlier for small Land Rover badges, and I noticed a Series 1 - 2 square badge for sale on Malta (it's not you is it?), but the description said it measured 19 cm x 7 cm, that sounds a bit big too me?

It was an original L/R plate with the 'Solihul, Warwickshire, England' script above and below the 'Land Rover' type flash.  Looked like a rear item to me, but I'm not a Lanny expert.

Keep up the improvements, and get the Big Lanny sorted now, after all, it needs some pampering now it's carrying a little un! ;)

Best Regards,
Mark.

Indicator stalk is from a bit of a land rover stalk i had laying around, fuel gauge is the same from a defender, speedo is off an old excersise bike. ;D

The speedo should have been hooked up as i have the cable for it, but god knows when i will do it. The fuel gauge is also dead, in fact i was going to hook it up to one battery and make it mark just halfway for functionality sake.

Stalk was shortened and stuffed in a bit of wooden block drilled out to use the wiring for the horn.

Hello Patrick, nice to hear from you again.

You seem to be doing as good a job on the real thing as you did on the T2, well done.

Brian.

Hi Patrick,
Glad to see that you're not sitting idle since finishing the little landy, and are finally tackling something a little more meaty!

I want to know what you'll do when the big 'un's finished? You can't just sit around in the sunshine!

Keep Busy,
Best Regards,
Mark.
