welding
« on: 24 December, 2011, 12:49:21 PM »
I've just dug a small MIG welder out of the depths of my garage in anticipation of starting building my T1 in the New Year - do any of you more experienced welders know if it is likely to be able to weld stainless? I was thinking of having a go at a replica steering wheel using s/s wheel spokes.
Happy Christmas to all.

if its a gas welder rather than gasless it should be fine with the correct wire and gas

just need stainless wire and the correct gas as said above i think its argon? you can weld stainless with your normal wire but it wont have the rust free properties

hi if you use stainless mig wire you must use pure argon. you can get it all from machine mart
but as above you can use mild steel wire. it is ok but not rust proof
