Other peoples kids.
« on: 22 August, 2010, 10:16:53 AM »
every weekend we usually have a little walk to the pub me,her(betterhalf) my 8 year old son my 3 year old daughter and the new addition our little jack who is 4 months old.
The walk useally is little girl driving with me sat legs over the back enjoying the ride. The wife pushing the pram while on the phone to everyone and anyone, my other boy either sits next to me on the back of the car or walks along nicely, after about 20-30 min we reach to pub of choice.
and thats where the trouble starts........
As we sit down to enjoy a little drink the other kids start swarming......"its thats your mate".."can i have a go" then the dads start "did you make that".
At first it was nice to explane how it was made and talk about it but after 26 weeks its getting right on her nerves.
And the kids...pushing ...........pulling.........everyweek they break something!!!!
i now have to stand Guard over it!!!
but  the taxi home is great!!!!!

I've had exactly th same problem with our Chitty...

On Fathers Day, the girls (then 3.5yrs and 1.5yrs) and I drove up to our high street to get my father a card.
Since it was really early everything was closed, except for McDonalds, so we parked up outside next to a window and I had a coffee.
Loads of people stopped and looked as they walked by, some kids beeped the horn, which is fine.
But then an older chap, must have been 60 or so, started poking at it. He wiggled the windscreen a bit, then bent it over, bending the brass brackets and walked off!
Why?
I don't get it.
What is wrong with people?

I don't mind children playing with it; if they're having a look I quite often tell their parents' they can climb in and beep the horn etc (but not drive it)... But some children climb in straight away. My little'un gets really quite possessive about it, its quite funny watching a 2 year old storming across the playground shouting 'My Chitty, my chitty'.

Soceity today, huh, tsk!

I agree, for mer only two boys can drive my jeep (or the tank) as they where involved in the build and test process ...
In the beginning i let sometimes other drive but then they started to flip fw/rev etc ... nothing broke but imagine the Amps going trough the cables, the strain on the drive parts etc ...

once we went out with the tank an a guy (mid 40 ) around the corner shouted 'couldn't you make anything more peacefull like a dozer  ??? '

but it's not all bad  :-)  , other ask if it is a kit  (this was with my own builds before i joined toylander) or where you can buy it .. :-)

and 1 time we where even stopped by two police cars when i was making movies in the snow ...

the men in blue where very friendly (it was awfull early and we where not on the main road ) , they gave some compliments on my boy his driving and went off  ... 4 men in blue against my boy ...i rather meet them this way :-)

best regards,
Luc
