Robert, I have just spent an hour typing and researching the above info request, and managed to lose it all while doing a bit more checking.
Not feeling too good so will not attempt to retype all

short answers only then.

1)Google or ebay Schottky diodes for power diodes. Any IN type for charger circuit at rated charger amp output.

2)Bolt to a heatsink, keep heatsinks apart, will have voltage on heatsink.

3)Will get hot but heatsink will dissipate.

4)Schottky has very low voltage drop across it, no problem as far as you are concerned.

Brian.

Brian,
Thanks for your input!
I 've come up with some more questions:  ;D

1) What do you think about these diodes:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Blocking-Diode-30A-Schottky-Wind-Generator-Solar-Panel-/280536756322?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item41514b3062

They are recommended in this article: http://www.reuk.co.uk/40-Amp-Blocking-Diode-1N1190A.htm and seem to be quite cheap and easy to mount at a heat sink.

2) Can I use the same diodes as well for the charger circuit as the battery cirquit?

3) I guess every diode needs to be mounted isolated on its own heatsink ?

regards from the Dutch nitwit  :D

Robert,

You will be fine with schottky diodes you have located for the power lines between the batteries, if you want to be certain you have covered the power demand of your motor, you could double up and put a pair in paralle in each battery link wire.  You can bolt each pair to the same heat sink which, if aluminium, would electrically link then together rquiring only one wire to the heat sink. The other ends then need joining together and onto the other battery terminal.

As far as the charging circuit is concerned, you don't need anything like that size diode.

Try this Item number: 150380954681 on Ebay.

Brian.

Hello Robert, I came across this 36v charger on e-bay, item number 360288721618.

I have bought lots of stuff from across the water, no problems so far.

Hi Brian, Am I correct in thinking the first two diagrams were superceded by the later single one with the red link inserted? If so that makes the previous two redundant I think. If so would you remove them so as to avoid any confusion as this is a very useful posting or alter them if they are still useful please?
Best wishes
Richard

Hello Richard, what on earth are doing up at that time in a morning, are you so busy you're having to work nights? :D

Can't find how to remove two surplus drawings and what is the split topic facilty for??

Please remove the surplus drawings or tell me how to do it, the geriatric bit is very true, there's nothing to recomend with old age except the free bus pass, and I rarely use that. :D

Regards,

Brian.

ps. did you get my email order?

Hello Brian

I have never split a topic; below is the explanation from the forum instructions:
Quote
Splitting Topics
Moderators can split Posts made in Topics. This means they can take Posts made in Topics out of the Topic and have the selected Posts in the Topic form a new Topic. To split Posts from a topic:

Go to the Topic with Posts that should be split. To the right of every Post, you'll find a button that says "Split.". Clicking on the "Split" button next to a Post will direct you to a screen that asks you what type of split you want to make. There are three options you can choice from.

The first option: Only split this Post, will only take the Post that you clicked the split button next to out of the Topic and have that Post become its own newly created Topic.

The second option: Split Topic after and including this Post, will split the Post that you clicked the split button on and all of the Posts made after the selected Post and create a new Topic with those Posts.

The last option, Select Posts to split, will take you to a screen where you can select all of the Posts you want to split out of the Topic. On the Select Posts to split you will see two columns. The first one has all of the current Posts that are not currently selected to be split from the Topic. To split a Post, simply click on the arrow pointing towards the right column, and you will now see that Post on the right column where all of the Posts selected to be split from the Topic are placed. You can undo a Post you had previously selected to be split, by clicking on the arrow pointing to the left column, moving it back to the left column with the Posts currently not being split from the Topic are.

Removing the surplus drawings:
If the images were uploaded to the forum they would be attachments and just deleting the link would leave them on the forum database.
I can delete them if you let me know what thread etc. they are in.

If they are hosted elsewhere:
Go to the post > select the modify link > remove the link to the image > save

Hello Anthony.

I know it dosen't take much, but I am confused.

The only modifying buttons I have on my posts at the top right of each post are:- Quote/Split Topic -

I cannot get into my post's to do any alterations of any description, so I can't remove the links to/or the incorrect drawings.

The incorrect drawings are in this thread on page one, it is the post where I posted two identical drawings when I was trying to remember how to add a drawing/photo to a post.

Brian.

That made my heart stop - all three drawings were the same name and so I removed the two at 10:13 and all the images on the page disapeared  :o
I closed and opened the browser and everything looks back to normal !

I wonder why you lost some tools ? Anyway everthing should be OK now.

Hello again Anthony.

The tools that I referred to have been missing for quite some time, then today, as you were working on the site, they reappeared, now they have dissapeared again, I only have quote and split topic facilities again.

Regards,

Brian.

Only got quote and split topic buttons again tonight, this is a test post to see if all four buttons come up after posting.

Brian.

Yes, I have got my full quota of buttons back with the remove post button blocked again.

What is happening here??? Is anyone else experiencing this problem, and why is the remove button blocked immediately the post appears, there is not much point in having the remove button at all if immediately the post appears on screen, the remove facility is blocked.

Regards,

Brian.

Another test to see if this post removes the modify and remove buttons from the previous post.
