Nice set up Brian, have you thought aboout doing a toylander train, my youngest gandson is mad keen on thomas and wondered if it was possible. I am just finishing (painting) a TL2 then thinking of a trailer for it but another project is either an HGV truck or a train.
Grandad, when will it be ready ? :).

Hello Sweep ;)

I would think a Toylander loco modelled on the seaside roadtrains must be a possibility.

One other project I completed a couple of years ago, pre toylander build, for my daughter, is a Kit car.

The car was supplied as a pre finnished fibre glass body tub which had to have all the mechanical, electrical and interior parts sourced and fitted.

The mechanicals are Rover engine, gearbox and steering column, the rest are supplied as kit parts or sourced from elsewhere.

The photo's show the finnished car on my drive.

The number plate is a private plate showing the year of completion and my daughters surname letters which is "Foster", hence 99 FOS.

All good fun.

Regards,

Brian.

Hello Andy.

I'm still a member of TeamGTM, one of the two GTM owners club's.

I've not seen any reference to either clubs having aquired the moulds, although I do know the idea has been floated, the possible recipient being Dudley Shearman, an ex GTM manufacturer employee with the original manufacturer at Sutton Bonnington, GTM's original home.

Dudley has set himself up in business in Sutton Bonnington building kits and getting most of the GTM owners work and repair work when required, and a nicer chap you've yet to meet.

Brian.

Hi Brian

Ive just been admiring your GTM pics, and a very nice job you did too,

I also built a Locost about 12 years ago
But sadly had to let it go when i had an Hip Replacement that didn't go too well
And the locost wasn't the easyest thing to get in and out of at the time,

So now its going to be something i can watch the Grandchildren enjoy The Geepstar

Tony

Hello Tony,

sorry to hear that your hobby build had to go because of your hip replacement problem.

I built the GTM for my daughter, it's only done about 1,200 miles since the SVA and sits in my garage awaiting a buyer.  She got married towards the end of the build and her husband came with a company car with effectively free fuel, there new modern build house can only accomodate one car, so after the initial enthusiasm of the head turning drive wore off, common sense prevailed and it was decided to sell, £6,500 or near offer will see it go.  Considering it cost way in excess of £14,500 when built, it is virtually brand new, but the present economic climate is not conducive to people parting with there money.

I have built my son a quantum 2+2 sports car which has also done very little mileage since it's SVA and that sits in his garage as he also has a free fuel company car.

Hay Ho, at least the grandson's T2 gets used, but I have an itch to build something else.

Anyone know what the T2's are fetching on the market?

I will have to sell it before starting another build because I am fast running out of building space.

Regards,

Brian.

Hi Brian,

Yes well lets face it the free fuel job is a big thing these days and its predicted it will rise in price again next
year by another 8 pence per ltr,
I am due to change my car in December and the fuel economy as to be a big part in my choice,

So you are fancying a new build then, I am sure you wont have problems selling the T2,
I think i read in one of you posts that you don't have welding equipment,
if ever you need the use of a Mig welder you are welcome to use mine
as you don't live far it wouldn't be a problem,

Garage space eh I just wish i had one, i just have the tool shed here and so it looks like my dear wife will be climbing over
mdf for a while, But it makes a change from hand cycles ect ect

Best Regards Tony
