New members/new builders

Firstly welcome.
If you're looking at building a Toylander/Geepstar etc there is something you need to remember about this forum, if you buy the plans and follow the instructions it's straight forward. The reason I say this is because of the posts that I and others have placed on here complicating things that are simple and for one reason or another have decided to change a tried and tested product.

During a coversation today with a carpenter I've never meet before we started talking about the Toylander I built and he informed me that he had been thinking about starting a build but been put off by this forum and especially the heavy steering (small world as I was one of a few that started it).
I had to tell him that I have driven a Toylander that was built correctly and had different batteries and had no problems with the steering and the steering box's etc were something that is not needed on a standard build and he should not be put off building one because of others or me.
I also informed him that while reading through these posts he has to remember people change things because they can or want to, not because they have to unless they haven't used the right thing in the first place.
Anyway we swapped numbers and he is ordering plans this week after he has brought his little one around to have a go of our one.
Enjoy your build.

Max.

Thank you Max BW's R

I have to agree with this, if you have the means, go with the standard car using the Bits from Richard.

I built the body of a TL2 last spring, and will start on the mechanicals in a few days when the arrive (Thanks Richard). Not a cheep way of doing it I know, but everything has gone together nicely so far, and has needed quite little in terms of time, and tools.

Will post photos of the build when the bits arrive, and the daughter and I can attack the car.
