A Ok The MB43 Tested for first time today.
« on: 05 April, 2010, 06:29:18 PM »
Before being shipped to the Gadget Show at the NEC the new model [in body style only] using all current design fabrications was tested at length with excellent results. Albeit left hand drive the standard steering wheel and swing axle gave an excellent light steering managed by next door's two and a half year old. The five year old we had trouble convincing it was coming back from the show as he wanted 'to look after it for me!' 'They're men not children what do they want to take it for?'
The Town and Country tyres look the dog's biscuits on it too. Only disappointment is the paint.
Best wishes

I saw it in the flesh (so to speak) at the Gadget Show Live on Saturday, SUPERB!!! I only saw one thing better than it at the show, and that was Suzi Perry in a black leather catsuit, flying a jetpack! ;)

Hi Richard
WELL
That certainly looks the part!
I like the thick look, of the sides of the body tub and the front wings, it makes the model more "scale like", and less like mdf. The forward position and setup of the screen hinge looks nice too.
Hope we see loads of them around by the summer!

Richard - That is a beautiful model....... I'm nearing the completion of a jeepstar (it was started about a year ago!) but I'm now considering building the MB43. Will all the Jeepstar parts tranfer to this new model - specifically rear axle, sprockets, motors etc and front axle/steering etc? Thanks, Mark

It looks very realistic Richard, perhaps the steering column is a tad long.

I like the tumblehome in the side panels, I will be interested to see how you have retained the strength integrity of the side panels with a vertical joint running from top to bottom without some lamination or some sort of a chassis beam out of site undernieth.

Regards,

Brian.

The steering column you could modify but the axles, wheels, brakes, motors, MMP's, chains, sprockets and modified bumper will all fit BUT ARE NOT LEFT HAND DRIVE. Details ready.

Thank you Brian, The column is as long as it is because the younger children were uneasy about a steering wheel between their knees. The Strength is put back in through angle iron at the foot of the door you may just make out the socket head screws and some 4x2 underneath as you suggest.

That is another GREAT model.
Congratulations!
If I wasn't this far with mine, I would seriously consider to change the body with this one.

Well done Richard.
Its clearly taken a long time to achieve a result like that.
The Willys/MB body isn't a straight forward shape by any means, and your attention to detail will please Jeep enthusiasts.

I fear I may be tempted to re-body the Geepstar in the future.

Richard, have you ever thought about designing a tank?  I think it would be a big hit!  A bit more engineering than a four wheeled model though.  Also a bit more expensive.
