I've been involved in other things, so developement work on the Toylander variations is at a bit of a standstill at the moment.

Just to add some to the Chit Chat...

I am about to start cutting panels from MDF. I have my trusty Bosh jigaw, and will be purchasing a Makita Circ Saw this week (18V LXT one, its one of the few 18v makita tools I am missing from my big Makita bag ) and possibly a router, although i'll borrow a friends initially, who has 3 Makita Routers

For my steel fabrication, i am set, with my Metal Drop saw, Cordless grinder, Makita 5" 240v, and Hitachi 4" 240v... Plenty of cutting and flap discs, and the welding done by TIG using my CIGWeld 130Amp Tig.

bolting the body to the chassis will be via Nutserts into the chassis and some M6 bolts.

I'm having sleepless nights on the worry of leg room and seat depth, having 310mm of leg room from seat to firewall/dash and a seat 110mm height, 275mm deep..
i'll confirm once the plans arrive and I mock it up and trial fit a mates 4 year old.
Its summer down here, so good to get in my cooler garage and get some work done. I also have the Keg fridge in the garage.

  What was the old adage measure twice drink once,then measure again to make sure drink once. Did notice on your impressive tool list that there was one important item missing - a bottle opener or are cans easier for measuring with....

As for size of driver, my wife all 5ft 1 and a little bit can manage to easily sit on the drivers seat with the back rest down and if we sit correctly both of us can fit in a Series 1.  I'm 5ft 7. Biggest problem is hip measurements ie the bony bits not the padding around them just means one of us sits slightly backwards or forwards from the other.

A someone who has been trying to learn the art of welding, it takes time. Especially if you don't do it often.

It was quite refreshing on the weekend to put the stick to the metal and tack then weld up the Chassis of my 109" chassis.

I dropped some good welds (in my eyes, a nice sign is to see the slag come away from the weld itself ) and then ground back, and cold gal'd the welds.

The new Makita Circ Saw turned up yesterday, just a small Cordless 18v 6 1/2" jobbie, but enough for me to use on the project.

I got a few sheets of 18mm,12 and 6mm MDF on the weekend. Also ordered and paid for the plans to use as a guide (might also make a normal toylander 2 in Tandem to the 109" i am making.

It seems the winter hibernation has ended early! Mark is up and about and welding, Brian is looking at the railway, even if progress is still a little slow. The warm weather up north must be affecting you. Down here, it's alternately very chilly, or very wet!
Me I'm staying in by the fire, the only cars I'm dealing with are the Corgi and Dinky models, and even those restorations are going a bit slowly just now.

It was 40+Deg C yesterday and well on the way to the same temp today. Winter, is well and truely gone here

I'm still waiting for the plans for my toylander to turn up so I can commence the contruction of the body. The Chassis is all welded up and ready.


Shipping downunder takes a while.

Thats great for you!
It has made me feel a bit warmer, not a lot! Today started at minus 5 and a heavy frost, but it can only geyt better for the next few months.
Hope the plans arrive soon and you can get started proper.
