Toylander Owners Club badge
« on: 14 February, 2010, 11:28:59 AM »
Well Mark suggested it recently, Brian mentioned a badge bar and Walter actually made one last year for Newark and there have been other favorable rumblings on here. So how about the design then boys and girls? Gavin our CD* member has the technology, skill and willingness. He makes those other great little badges for a replica car like ours ;-)

Over to you, send in your ideas and we'll try to choose one I like! I do think that a flat badge with two mounting holes in the foot/ base ala AA badges which means they can be mounted on a bar or to the rear side of the front bumper. What do you think.

Best wishes

Richard - great idea!  I'll put my thinking cap on.

I presume the design we're thinking of is an 'engraved' alloy style similar to the Landrover badges already produced (i.e. not a chrome/enamel style?)

Regards,

Gavin.

Hello again Gavin,

I'll look at any design whether it be engraved or machined out & in-filled. I'm sure I could replicate a filled badge with a polished surround OK, or if I can't do it at first I'll soon master it. The only thing that I had mentioned to Richard was if we could keep it flat to keep the cost down.

Hi all
Just something to go on with

Based on Richards Logo, I have deliberately kept it simple so that it could be produced in different forms. As a printed vinyl sticker it could be applied direct to the bodywork or stuck to a plastic backing and applied as a separate badge. It could also be made as a cast badge in LandRover style, or even made as a lapel badge.

Regards to all
Walter

Does anyone have a three quarter view image of a Toylander which I could vectorise. It would need to be well lit & against a clean backgound.

I've knocked this up quickly. You can see I've moved away from the oval so that it isn't a Land Rover style badge - I know the bulk of builders are doing landies but I've tried to keep it generic so it could go on any of the models. Ideally TLOC.com or .co.uk would be snappy and easy for people to remember but you need the address first I guess...

Anyway, this could be machined and filled in the style of the Land Rover badges, perhaps allowing people to fill with the colour of their choice? An orbital sander or similar could be used to take the paint from the top of the letters if the colour's done at home?

All the best,
lee

Hi
Thats a relevant point Lee, maybe there should be less accent on the LandRover style, altho' they may be in the majority, they aren't the only models, there's lots of jeeps and tractors, and a few others, so something with a wider appeal is probably better.

Coming via low tech snail mail on the back of some scrap paper are a few jottings for club badge which we drew up while out with the boys at a radio controlled lorry meet. Hope the low tech bit makes them readable.
