Camper Trailer
« on: 10 February, 2011, 01:03:48 AM »
I think it would be nice if my two sons could go camping. Anybody every built a camper trailer or has plans for it?

Cheers Christian

Hi Richard.

Any rough scetches yet? I was thinking about one of those Teardrop Campers from the 50s.

The caravan appeared on the Fern show on the 22 April and can be found on the 4oD player site for another few days ( probably not allowed to access from abroad ? ):

That looks fantastic, will there be some plans available for this?

Just for reference the feature starts at 32 minutes in.

For our van, the Spirit, not the one on C4. There is a picture of our van on the main site under customer cars.

Hi Christian,

I was Toying with building a Teardrop trailer, the problem i encountered was the height of the cabin when you scale it down, the height of a full size trailer is around  1200mm by 2400 to 3600mm in length and 1800mm in width. by my calculations in Toylander scale the trailer body would be 1500mm + 300mm for the hitch, 900mm in height and 750mm in width plus wheel arch width, it would also be possible to retain a small kitchenette in the rear.  Not sure if anyone would want to sleep in it though :o

Each square in the drawing represents 150mm or 6"

Current plan is to build a full sized Teardrop to house one of the cars so it can be brought along to one of the events.....

Regards James

Hi
Just thought about lightweight trailers for bicycles and come across this

It is made from thin sheets of ply wood it is very light and you can modify the hitch for it to be towed behind the toylander
cheers
