Olivia and Kayleighs toylander 2
« on: 25 October, 2009, 08:06:42 PM »
Hi my Names Ross proud dad of Olivia 4 and half and Kayleigh 2 and half years old.  I have always had my hands dirty fixing or improving cars.  I have recently repaired a 1986 Diahatsu Fortrak M.O.T failer. I now need some thing to tinker with.  I have found a series 2 truck cab 88" land rover but the wife said 'NO'. Whilst looking longinly through the the landrover monthly or landrover enthusiast magazine, I saw a picture of a man driving a baby landrover up a twist of ramp and after studying more pics in the magazine I saw more and the an advert for R.L.Ts got on the site.  On spending more time I realised that you could build your own still well out of my price range though.  Then I was at the wifes uncles house and saw the remaines of a "robot wars" chassis with two 12 volt motors with integral gearboxes.  A quick go on the web and the plans were on the way.  I went for M.R.M.D.F.  I am still on a tight buget so the batten will be cut from off cuts as my brother in law works at a saw mill.  he also cut the floor and outer sides to basic rectangles this I  thought would guarantee at least 3 square/true pieces to work off.
I figured it would have some thing that I could use.  Wot an understatment it is 24 Volt with soft start forward & reverse also hi & low speed. still got to check the batteries will work but I have a 24 volt truck start booster pack so the kids got to ride it for a bit.  The batteries are rated at 20Ah (20ah) can anyone tell me if these will be strong enough (they are gel type).  Many thanks for taking the time to read this I'll keep you all updated.  Ross (the end result will be better than the spelling)
