I've attached a photo showing how I made the windscreen.

The frame is a single piece of MDF, jigsawed to the right shape, then I use my Router to round off the corners.
The plastic sheet is Polycarbonate, this is very strong and shatterproof. This is held to the frame by slim pieces of aluminium bar (B&Q), countersunk screws then hold all this in place.

Obviously hinges are used to mount it to the body and to hold it upright, over-centre catches.

Oh, Richard what have you done!

I've only just finished the Geepstar and you tell me that you doing a replica Willys MB. Arghhh!

Questions!
When will this become available?
Is the width the same as the Geepstar, can I 're-body' my Geepstar?
Can I be you 1st Willy MB customer?

How about a 'spy' photo?

Most of the bits will cross over Steven, Rear axle, brakes if you make it RHD, Front axle, motors, wheels.
I haven't got any of that black tape they use to disguise the new models!  ;-)

I'll make it a smaller picture and try my hand at getting it on here. The WMB should be ready just after Xmas all being well. The body is bigger it is a similar size to the Toylander 1.
One spy photo coming up.

Robert,

The windscreen frame itself is made from 12mm MDF.
The polycarbonate  (not perspex - this can shatter) screen is approx 15mm bigger than the cut-out of the frame. Thus the screen sits on top the frame (I think this can be seen the previous photo). This can now be drilled and fastened to the frame. I chose to use aluminium strip to 'sandwich' this all together.

Alternatively you could just buy the RLT item... thus saving time and probably money!

::)  Rats, just spent several weeks going around the steam rallies looking at slab sided or plain panel cars, vans etc and came up with the idea of a Wilys jeeps but you have beat me to it Richard. When will the drawings be available I'll start saving up my pocket money.

Progress coming along well on the Series 1 hopefully, rain permitting, it could well be unders its own power for Lincoln steam next weekend, if not I'm working on towing it to and from the arena.

Regards to all

Not keen to give a time as I'll get lynched if they do not appear on time. Field Marshall tractor an example; been finished two years but no manual yet! Doh!

Thanks,  :D

All done now and working!

Much to 3yr olds enjoyment!

Still in need of some TLC but with the vitals being added!!

As I dont have the plans for the Geepstar and bought it second hand, can any body identify this part that was supplied with it?
Whats it for? How does it mount, any other bits needed etc...Thanks

Thats the actuator bar for the rear wheel brakes.
Thus I'm assuming that your Geepstar has no brakes at the moment?

When you have some other photos, please post, or put them on the Gallery (buttons at the top of this screen!).

Hi Marvin,
This is the brake system used up until 2001. It had some hardish rubber 'D' shaped pieces to bolt to the ends where the angle iron is. This rubbed on the inside of the wheel in the rear half. It hung behind the axle on a 10mm bolt each side and was operated by a lever and pedal arrangement. Send me a PM and I'll see if I can find an old manual and scan the details for you BUT best you find the 'D' shaped rubbers first and when you do I'll have some for a car I have in at the moment for an MOT! I believe they were either the rear door rubbers on a BMC van or something to do with an Allegro by British Leyland. Before my time you see.

Just had a look at the manual, it states "Cortina Rear Exhaust Rubbers".
The Geepstar design has been around a while then?!

To be quite honest I don't know as I did my own braking system.
You'd be better off buying the rubbers direct from RLT - they don't cost much.

The Cortina ones are old! D ones are later and now in stock. BW's Richard

Thanks for all the help/info folks.

I now know I need the pedal and a rod to act on the actuator.

So as I dont have a full machine shop to hand was wondering if any body may have modified their old Geepstar brakes and may have the parts now lying around and surplus to requirements?

Thanks

Steve

Hi All,

With Many thanks to Richard and Roberto for the help, time, information and the parts!!!!

We will soon be able to stop the Geepstar now!

Once again, Thanks for all the help.

Toylander owners - very green recycling old parts!

Reflects the true spirit of the people involved with these great "toys"

And these parts will go on to help with the restoration of a very elderly model.

Thanks

Steve
