Sheffield Festival of transport Sunday 28th June
« on: 06 June, 2009, 07:31:54 PM »
I was thinking of taking the toylander to the Sheffield festival of transport at Graves Park Sheffield and wondered if any other toylanders might like to come along. It would be good to meet up with other members and test the off road capabilities:

Anyone interested please post below.

Thanks

Pete.

Well I won't be going now. I emailed the organisers to see if I could display the toylander and I got a very curt response saying that there was no category the toylander would fall into and if I ran it in a public park it would be illegal ( I have insurance and the toylander would be limited to 4 MPH similar to a class 2 mobility scooter).

However I have heard the organisers can be a bit "funny" from other classic car forums.

I am seeking clarification form the council if 4 MPH mobility scooters can be used in public parks, but I wouldn't go on principle.

Perhaps sometimes it is better not to ask!

Pete.

Hi Pete,
Well what a miserable bunch!! :-\

I think that we should all turn up on the day, park up a little way away from their carnival, and have a 'Display' and a meeting of our own, just to spite them!! :P

Might even generate more interest than the Festival of Transport!! :D :D

I'm with you Pete, Sod 'em.

Have a nice day out somewhere with the family instead,

Regards,
Mark.

I got a reply from the head of the parks department at Sheffield City Council , saying that disabled scooters are OK but mind the paths and that so are childrens low speed electric cars provided they are used under adult supervision, under control, warns they may not be suitable for all paths and they dont get any complaints. - fair enough

It is quite a refreshing change to find someone in officialdom with a sensible attitude.

I'm still not going to the transport festival but I am a lot happier using my local park or even Graves park where the event is to be held.

Pete.

Hello,
My first post......
The Toylander 1 is coming on well (slowly) and now has two coats of gloss to go then the reassembly.
I'm not going to the Sheffield event but, as you, would be keen to see/meet other toylanders. We are up here in Harrogate and i have made contact with Ted offroad who is local to me and we plan to meet up towards end of august when the T1 is complete (fingers crossed)
So whilst Sheffield and Harrogate aren't adjoining towns if you or anyone else fancied meeting on the Stray (240acres) in HGT then I'd be up for that....... let me know

David

Hi David, and welcome to the madhouse!!

We are all trying to get to this years 'Land Rover Max' show, in Newark on Trent, which is scheduled for the 17th, 18th, 19th of July, where Richard and the 'Toylander Stand' will be in attendance.

I am aiming to be there on the Sunday (19th), and hope to meet up with some of the regulars from the forum there.

There is more information on this in the 'Shows' section of the forum.

I suppose that Harrogate is not that far from Newark, so maybe you could join us there for a Tea and Sticky Bun!!

Keep Busy,
Regards,
Mark.
