Website

OK Guys, I've done it now!  As promised i've sorted out a site for my build story. It's my first expedition into web design so don't expect too much! It's quite a simple site, just an intro page, a blog page and a photo album, (what do you expect for nothing!) I will add more pictures and more info on the build soon, but I just wanted to get it up and running for now.  I have also had some ideas on how to improve the vehicle, and will share them with you as well, providing Richard doesn't object! OK Boys, enjoy and let me know what you think, Best Regards, Mark.

Hi Mark
Congratulations on both your Toylander and website. Both excellent. I love your detail touches, as a modeller I don't go for true scale, more of a "scale like" approach, and this is what you seem to have achieved, a great model that has the right "look" about it. Well done
Walter
ps
I tried to add a comment, at bottom of your blog but got the message, this entry does not allow comments.

Hi Walter, I'm pleased that you like the site, I will add more pics in the near future. I tried to keep it simple (like me), so that it was easy to use and navigate. I am aware that the site doesn't take comments, I designed it that way. This was a conciouse decision as I just wanted the site as a vehicle to let club members and builders see some of the problems and solutions that I had, and to show off basically! ;) Seriously though, I thought it would be better and easier to keep track of communications with other members via this site, rather than trying to police two sites and two lots of comments! As I said at the end of the blog, there are still some aspects of the build to add, and some tech/line drawings and measurements of the parts Gary and I made for the car.  These might be of use to other members, and future builders. OK Walter, thanks again for taking the time to look and comment, much appreciated,
Regards,
Mark. :)

Well done with the blog site Mark, it is allways a help having a reference to look at, very interesting to see how others have got around problems or made improvements.

I think we are all little boys at heart. ;D

Hi mark, been trough your site, well done for the description and pitfalls pointed out while building.I still should do that while doing mine to help others!

One question, you have a disc brake at the hub, why did you fit it if the motor brake work well enough??

Hi Patrick,
I am going to use it as a hand brake type device, just in case the motor brake fails, but I have also considered converting the car to a pendulum pedal (already built) at a later date, when my grandson is a little older and has advanced his driving skills!
I hope you weren't upset by the comment I added to the end of your build post. I am really impressed with the detail you have put into the car, and I thought I had gone mad with the details!
I have added another picture album to the website today. It has Line drawings of some of the mods that I have mentioned in the build blog. I will add more as I complete them, as I, like many others, consider these projects as 'Ongoing' and never really finished.
I apologise in advance for the quality of the drawings, as my scanner is a little basic.

Keep busy, Best Regards, Mark.

Not upset at all ;D

I too will add better brakes when the time comes, problem is i did not make any provision for a pedal, but i think i can sort it out. I was thinking of mounting it to the motor instead of the electric brake in the future. I can easily do them at the wheels if need be.

Hi all,
have just posted a more detailed blog on the website tonight.
I am still working on some more material for the blog and will post it as soon as it is ready.
I am going to do some more work on the car over the winter months, adding the callipers for the rear disc's, and finishing the braking system.  I am also going to finish the modified step unit and paint it. I am also looking at altering the front axle, to stop it moving on the current mounts, and weakening the chassis.

Gary and I have been talking, and are trying to work out a better steering system, rather than the 'Direct' version currently on the car, but we are still tossing ideas about, so it might be ready for the spring! ???

The car might end up getting a re-paint yet, as my grandson, who chose the colour in the first place, now wants it Blue!
I originally planned it to be 'Marine Blue', but he wanted it to be Red!
Bl**dy Kids!

Will keep you all updated,
Best regards,
Mark. ;)

Just been to your site, brilliant shifter, makes mine look like a bodge job. Well done, some details you have done are just great, If i saw that before i would have adapted it to fit my shifter! Maybe a future mod, as now i want to get it ready!

Hi Patrick,
I'm glad you like it! This was a source of much head scratching in the begining, until I hit upon the idea of using the direction 'Pot' from the scooter.

The original scooter bracket was modified and simple hinges added to allow it to move around the 'E' gate; And 'hey presto' one simple shifter that locks in place, is easy for the lad to use, and looks the part.

There is a full description in the blog.

Keep busy,
Regards,
Mark. :)

Hi Guys,
Just to let you know, I've added a bit more stuff to my build site. A new 'Useful Names' page and a new album, with pictures of some the re-fit subjects.
Most of the topics added to the blog you will already be aware of, but the pictures might be useful to someone.
There is also a link to this site, so we might see some new members in the future.

I have also managed to add the site to the 'Google' web crawler, so that other people wanting info on Toylander builds can have a read and see how easy they are  ??? to build, and how good they look when finished.
I will add more pictures and mods as I complete them.
Keep busy,
Regards,
Mark.
