Hi i am paul

I am having problems with the moter not having enough power to drive the car. i am using a fan moter from a vw caddy. Any ideas what i can do.

As you have found Paul, the car fan motor is unlikely to be powerfull enough to pull the tub let alone tub and a driver.

Assuming you are looking for a cheap source I can only suggest you try EBay. Beware the rubbish though.

Look under wheel chair, invalid carriege, invalidity scooter and whatever else comes to mind to describe electrically driven invalid transport and see what it throws up.

You can go with either 12 or 24volt motors from that genre, but remember, if the budget is tight, a 24v system will require two 12v batteries and they don't come cheap.

Hi Paul,
If you go on Ebay, click 'Catagories' at the top left of the page, then click on 'Health and Beauty', when that section opens up click 'Motobility, Disability and Medical', then on the left side of the page, scroll down to 'Mobility Scooters' and click on that, and you will find thousands.

If you find the 'New - Used - Not Specified' bit on the left of the page, click on the 'Used' option, and this will filter out all but a few of the 'New' ads.
This should leave you with around 400+ scooters to choose from.

You can refine the search even further, at the top of the section now displaying the items found, there is a little box titled 'Sort By:'.
It usually displays 'Best Match', but if you click the arrow in the box, a menu drops down, and you can find the item by either 'Lowest price' 'Closest Distance to your postcode' 'Ending Soonest' etc, so you can filter out the ones you don't fancy or are too far away.

Here are my efforts on the Minim Oak: It is a beta build for Real life toys to test the drawings and stuff. Just need some mechanicals now. They said I would be on my own a bit now as they are in the middle of a new model so its left this one for a bit but i've enjoyed it. Minimad

Hi Greg, and welcome to the madhouse!

I wasn't aware that R.L.T. still did the plans for the 'Minim Oak', have you had them a while, or bought them recently?

I too am building a 'Moke', based on the 'Australian' built version. I took all the measurements from a full sized one, and then reproduced them in 'Half Scale' for the car. The build thread is in the 'Custom' section, under 'Secret Project Reveiled'.

Looking at your pictures, you can see the simillarity to the real car, I just hope that mine looks something like when I've finished!!

I have managed to source some 6" wheels from a Suzuki quad, but they will need to be narrowed for the 'Moke', but should look like the 13" items used on the Aussie one.

Finding a Mobility Scooter shouldn't be too hard, Ebay is full of them. Personally I would go for a 4 / 8 mph one, as these have all of the Lights, Indicators, Hazzard Flashers etc, and are quite capable of moving an 18+ stone adult about for 20 odd miles, so four little-ones shouldn't be a problem.

I have also used a Mobility Scooter to power Harvey's Toylander 2, and a full description of the build is on my website, which you might find useful. Just click on the 'Globe' icon under my username at the top left of the screen, and it will take you straight there.
