I got a couple of those Land Rover badges Mark, one fitted at the front in the photo's I posted, the second one going onto the rear when I start work on it again but still not feeling much like doing owt.   Would not be so bad if it was still in the sun room where we have heat. :(

What's wrong with the computer Walter, you're not fitting ski's so she can browse the internet while she sledges are you.  :(

Sad news about the girl killed at Rother Valley Country Park, quite near to where I live and that hill is steep, with four or five up, that Land rover roof panel would have been doing Olympic speeds when it hit the first fence, terrible.

Regards,

Brian.

Hi All
Lovely bright warm (ish) day today, and 3 grandchildren sleeping over for the weekend, so they've given it a thorough road testing! Chain remained tight, so thats one problem solved. The minor dings are increasing like measles spots! I was hoping to touch up the paint before I applied the last of the decals, but I think I'm fighting a losing battle there.
My 94 year old father came for lunch, so the kids pursuaded him to have a drive, he took it out for five minutes and loved it, just prooves that Toylanders are for the granddads, not grandchildren.
I've got round to adding a towbar too, just a short length of 2 x 1 box section, cut down to a channel section and bolted under the floor. Its set back under the rear so that it doesn't obstruct or damage the tailgate when that is lowered. I havn't made the trailer yet, but it will have a ring coupling, ( probably a rose joint), held by a pin dropped down through the floor.
I'll do a sketch and post it later,
Best wishes
walter

Hi All
Here's the sketch as promised, section through the rear to show the towhitch.
I'm not too hot on drawings, so I hope it makes sense, I might even take a pictuer sometime.

At the moment, the hitch pin is just a large bolt dropped down through the floor, I may weld a nut underneath for it to screw into, or use a split pin to secure.
Best Wishes
Walter

Hi all
No unfortunately, I didn't get a pic of my Dad in the Toylander.
Would have been one for the family album!
We had a little problem with the steering though.........the steering wheel kept coming loose, a bit disconcerting, and however tight I got the locknut, it kept happening. Possibly due to shock through the system, when the kids ran over the kerb! I've fixed it now by drilling and tapping into the steering wheel boss for a grub screw.
Yes...still tinkering

Hi all
just a pic of the towbar as promised. You can see that it's tucked back underneath, so it doesn't foul the tailgate if lowered, the pin pulls out from above the floor in the rear.

All the best

Hi all
Setting the towbar back under the car caused a minor hiccup.
As the car went up hill, or on rough ground, it looks as if the trailer drawbar may foul the bottom of the rear of the car, so a little mod was required to overcome this eventuality. Simple solution was to pack the towbar down by about 5mm with a piece of ply, and remove about another 5mm or so from the bottom rear of the car. The rear panel was originally protruding below the fixing block so I cut it off flush.
Best wishes

Hi all
I have made a start on a trailer for the Toylander.
I machined the stub axles to suit the left over wheels from the invalid buggy and threaded the ends for nyloc nuts. These stubs were then welded under a simple T shaped chassis, made up from 1 inch box section with an offset in the drawbar to get the hight correct.

The ring spanner is just a temporary tow hitch to try it out, but could be one way of fabricating a coupling! The pot noodle is not part of it either!

Hi all
Got a bit more done on the trailer, all the bodywork is glued and screwed. Need to do all the filling and sanding, and fix the body to chassis, and paint the body, and paint the chassis, and so on, and so on.
It seems that the actual fabrication is the smallest and quickest part of the build, its the finishing touches that take all the time!
Couple of pictures

Best wishes
