Yes, I know what you mean on both counts.
Any outing is accompanied by lots of children showing interest, parents enquiring about where you bought it, and looking surprised / impressed when you tell them 'I built it' (still the best bit for me).
I know that the initial outlay for a full kit or 'factory built' Toylander is expensive, but you certainly get what you pay for, a quality item!
People don't realise that if you build it in stages, the cost is greatly 'diluted', much like buying 'in installments' through a catalogue / HP agreement.
Even someone like me on a low income (skint) can spread the costs, and have fun doing it too!
Some folk want the earth..... for nothing!
